About this hammam
Cukurcuma Hammam, also known as Sureyya Hammam, was built in the 1830s. This remarkable piece of Ottoman heritage offers visitors a fascinating historical experience.
Over the years, Cukurcuma Hammam has hosted many renowned actors, poets, and artists. In addition to a traditional hammam experience, it offers massage services. The hammam is particularly famous for its unique kese (exfoliating glove), crafted from tree bark threads—a material suitable for all skin types.
In 1997, Cukurcuma Hammam was featured in a film by the acclaimed director Ferzan Özpetek.

May 5, 2024 at 10:20 amFirst time HAMAM experience and it was quite interesting! I would recommend at least trying it out once. If you are very shy or uncomfortable with bathing in your swimsuit in a communal manner then stay put…. If you are with a friend or your partner, I say go for it!

Unfortunately, the service is overly commercialized and touristic that it completely loses its authentic feeling. If you are looking for an authentic hamam, I don’t think this is the best place.

The ladies at the reception were very nice and helpful. The ladies who gave us ‘bath’ were really lovely and they did good job. Overall, wonderful and uniqe experience.
