Aga Hammam is the oldest hammam in Istanbul, built by Mehmed the Conqueror, the 7th Ottoman Sultan. In the 15th century, Beyoglu served as a popular hunting ground, and after hunting, the Sultan and his sons would visit the hammam to relax and cleanse themselves.
Today, Aga Hammam offers visitors a unique historical experience and continues to be a major attraction for tourists.
Ağa Hamamı, a nice place between traditional and stylish turc bath (since 1454). I loved the experience in which achieved my special moment as sultana with the services provided, unfortunately my husband couldn’t experienced the same quality as me. Probably men in charge of scrubbing rooms could be more attentive to his duties.
Besides of that highly recommended as an experience.
The most lovely experience on the continent.
This beautiful and historic building in the heart of istanbul is the best way to spend an hour or two. The staff are amazing, the experience is like none other and the environment is relaxing and rejuvenating. Nalan looked after me like a wonderful mother and she made me feel the cleanest I’ve ever felt in my life.
Thank you to the staff. This is an Istanbul don’t miss.
So I had a good time. They didn’t explain anything so I kind of had to figure it l on my own but my husband had a really horrible experience. He said that the man scrubbing him worked on him for 5 minutes and barely did anything and his massage was mediocre at best. Not sure if this is how it typically is at all hammams as it was our first time but we probably won’t go here again.
A very negative experience.
No clear instructions what you are doing. Most of staff don’t speak English. Mix hamam for gents and ladies with many of them not wearing swimsuits as they didn’t get the instructions.
The worst part was the guy who did the scrubbing, he didn’t know English, only a few words, he left the door of the room opened-no privacy at all, he was completely bored and you could perceive it from the way of scrubbing very indifferent.
Last but not least another guest came into the same room and the scrubbers guys started talking in Turkish during the entire time of the treatment!! I couldn’t believe it.. he didn’t say a word to me.. very rude behaviour, you wouldn’t never know what they are saying rude and insulting at the same time! Check the other negative comments they have similar comments!
